Description |
Two German ribbons mounted on a metal rod, bent into an open loop in the middle; medals are missing. White trim/binding with thin black stripe in the centre sewn around the ribbons below the metal bar to cover the raw folded edge of ribbon. A: Iron Cross Ribbon The ribbon is black with two thin white bands near each edge, the colours of Prussia. Awarded for bravery and military merit. Established in 1813. B: The Württemberg Military Merit Order Ribbon The ribbon of the order was yellow with broad black stripes near each edge from 1759-1818 and 1914-1919; from 1818 to 1914, the ribbon was blue. Awarded forbravery and exceptionally meritorious deeds in combat. Established in 1759 and last awarded in 1919. Approximately 3400 awarded in total (all 3 grades) from 1799 to 1919. |
