Pamphlet and sheets of commemorative stamps for the 100th anniversary of the The Militia Act. A: A pamphlet bulletin from Canada Post titled "Commemorative Stamp Bulletin." The cover of the bulletin shows two stamps, illustrated by William Southern and formatted by Ralph Tibbles, to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the passing of The Militia Act and the formation of The Royal Canadian Regiment, The Royal Canadian Dragoons, The Royal Winnipeg Rifles, and The British Columbia Regiment. The stamps feature illustrations of the uniforms worn by the four regiments. The stamps were issued from November 10, 1983 to May 9, 1984. The inside of the pamphlet has the specifications of the stamps, including the name, "Canadian Army - Regiments," the denomination, the dates of sale, the designers and more specifications of the stamps. The specifications are written in English and in French. The next page has a "Notice to Collectors," informing collectors how to order collectors stamps through the mail, the additional souvenir of "Official First Day Covers," and how to hold a Collectors' Subscription. The page is repeated in French. The back of the pamphlet has the history of the Canadian Army Regiments, repeated in French on the next page. Below the history is a picture of an envelope with the symbol of the Canadian Army that was in use until 1968 on the top left corner - three maple leaves with two swords crossing them and St. Edward's crown on the top. On the top right of the envelope are the Canadian Army stamps with an ink stamp citing the day of issue. B-E: Items B-E is a set of Canadian Army-Regiment stamps. Item B is the cover of the set with the title "Set of 4 inscription corner blocks," and repeated in French. The paper shows the price of the stamp set as $5.12 and has the Canada Post logo on the bottom. All of the text is in blue ink. C-E are perforated sheets of stamps. The stamps are images of soldiers wearing the uniforms of the four Canadian Forces regiments. On one stamp, the soldier in green is wearing The Winnipeg Rifles uniform, and the soldier in red with a white cap is wearing the Royal Canadian Dragoons uniform. The second stamp has a soldier in red with a black cap wearing the Royal Canadian Regiment uniform, and the soldier in blue is wearing the British Columbia Regiment uniform. The top of the stamp says "REGIMENTS 1883/1983 RÉGIMENTS." The bottom of the stamp reads "CANADA 32", because each stamp is worth 32 cents. Each stamp is repeated twice on C-E. The side of the stamp pages C-E has written "CANADIAN BANK NOTE OTTAWA / Design: William Southern / Ralph Tibbles," citing the bank that printed the stamps and the designers of the stamps. F-G: Two full page spreads of perforated stamps. The stamps are the Canadian Army - Regiment stamps for the 100 year anniversary of the formation of the four Canadian Forces regiments. On one stamp, the soldier in green is wearing The Winnipeg Rifles uniform, and the soldier in red with a white cap is wearing the Royal Canadian Dragoons uniform.
